Table Tennis Marathons

The boys' annual 24 hour table tennis marathon has become one of the highlights of the fundraising year for the club and takes place every February. Celebrity players request places in the event months before hand, and enjoy impressing the audience with their ping-pong ball skills!
The event celebrated 43rd year, and in some cases has become a family tradition, with sons following in their fathers footsteps, becoming members of the select club of Ping-Pongers. Over the years this annual event has raised thousands of pounds for good causes. Last year the boys made it through the 24 hours once again and donated their sponsorship money to the Sutton & Trusthorpe Lifeboat Guild.

For the 2013 Marathon, the boys are busily collection sponsorship for the benefit of the British Legion Poppy Appeal and The Meridale Community Garden. The event this year began at 7pm on Saturday 6th April and concluded at 7pm on Sunday 7th April. Thanks this year not only to the boys but to their support team: Reece Brant who was in charge of the teams and stayed with them to support throughout the 24 hours, Daniel Turner who photogrophed the event, created and publised the certificates and also supported throughout the event and Lesley Milwood, with assistance from Janet Shields, who took care of the catering and refreshments for the boys. A great big thank you also goes out to all the Mums and Dads for preparing the lads and helping them to keep going throughout their challenge. First results for monies raised was announced at the finale with the total at that point sitting at £780!
